The Heart of the Season

The hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season is something we all look forward to...putting up the Christmas tree, baking cookies, parties and libations! We certainly have our share of those things within our High Country “family” but the one event which brings me the most joy, is our annual “Holiday Helpers” outing.

Jordan lost and trying to find us!

We are fortunate to have a volunteer organization in Cody who compile a list of families and children less fortunate than ourselves. Each year, I request an assignment of children, one for each of our employees, and take an afternoon to help “Santa” with each child’s wish list.

The next morning is a frenzy in the office, with gift wrap, tape and ribbon flying around the room, as each gift is carefully wrapped and tagged. The presents are then loaded up and delivered to the central Holiday Helpers station where our packages are added to the hundreds of others being sorted and organized for delivery.

Jason aren't you finished yet?

A helping hand is often needed by families throughout the year, and we do our best to volunteer and give back when we can. But the highlight of my holiday season is knowing kids will delight in the “magic” of Christmas, with gifts from Santa Claus under the tree.

Selfies were just too tempting...
